Dentsply AquaCem Luting GIC

Dentsply AquaCem is a Glass Ionomer Cement (GIC) luting material engineered for the reliable and durable cementation of dental restorations. It is indicated for the permanent cementation of crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, and orthodontic appliances. This versatile cement is also suitable for core buildup procedures.

The material consists of a powder that is hand-mixed with water, ensuring convenient handling during clinical procedures. It offers a working time of 2.5 minutes and a setting time ranging from 3.5 to 5 minutes, allowing for efficient application. AquaCem forms a chemical bond with tooth structure, contributing to secure and long-lasting restorations.

AquaCem provides additional clinical benefits, including fluoride release which aids in the prevention of secondary caries, and radiopacity for clear visibility on radiographs. The product is subject to regulation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and state and local regulatory agencies. In the European Union, Glass Ionomer Cements must conform with EU Council Directive 93/42/EEC and are classified under Class IIa.

Tooth Preparation: Clean the prepared tooth surface with water and gently dry with oil-free air. Avoid over-drying; the surface should remain slightly moist.
Mixing: Place 2 drops of distilled/deionized water on a mixing pad or glass slab. Add 1 scoop of powder and mix thoroughly for about 15 seconds until a smooth, creamy consistency is achieved.
Application: Apply the mixed cement to the internal surface of the restoration (crown, bridge, inlay, or orthodontic band).
Seating: Immediately seat the restoration onto the prepared tooth with firm pressure and hold it in position.
Excess Removal: Remove excess cement after the material reaches its initial set and allow it to fully harden.
